Phablets are in demand since many users want something larger than a phone, but smaller than a 7 inch tablet. Samsung basically owns this market with its Galaxy Note devices, but they do have their competition.

Another New Nexus 7 Photo Revealed
We just saw a leaked photo of the new Nexus 7 tablet and now we have another one, this time showing the side profile of Google’s next Nexus 7 tablet.
The new Nexus 7 tablet is expected to be made official by Google this week, and it will apparently go on sale on the US before the end of July, with a possible release date of the 30th of July.
Leaked Best Buy ad has Nexus 7 release on July 30th
We’ve seen a few leaks so far that put the release date of the new Nexus 7 on the last day of July. However, a new leaked ad from Best Buy is pegging the release date on July 30th. Yeah, it is just one day, but with the excitement around this device, a day early is great news.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids Tablet Announced
It looks like Samsung has decided to launch an Android tablet designed specifically for children, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, which is a version of the Galaxy Tab 3.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids features a kids friendly casing as you can see in the photo below. It comes with a bright orange or yellow bumper case.
Surface Pro Woes
The highly anticipated launch of the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet went over well. How well? So well that inventory levels appear to be minimal just two days later. Shoppers flocked to Microsoft’s website at the stroke of midnight, February 9 to place orders but encountered frustration. 128GB units ($999) ended up selling out, leaving 64GB units at $899 as the available option. Other shoppers chose to visit Staples or Best Buy, only to find only a couple units on hand – which, of course, went quickly. Speculation is that total inventory levels were lower than anticipated. Could it be an effort to portray it as more popular? Was there supply chain issues? Or was that Microsoft’s intention? Who knows.
As we discussed in January, the Surface Pro is a Microsoft PC in a tablet’s body. Windows 8, Intel chip mean it performs like a computer. A touch screen mean it functions like a tablet. We will soon see what the market has to say about the latest Microsoft product and whether the PC performance in a tablet product will succeed. Keep in mind that Microsoft has had their share of successful product launches which are followed by less than average sales. But with the popularity of tablets perhaps long-term Surface Pro demand will live up to that experienced on launch day .

Sony Xperia Tablet Z To Launch Globally In Quarter 2
Yesterday we heard that the new Sony Xperia Tablet Z would launch in the UK in quarter 2, and now Sony has announced that their new Android tablet will launch globally in quarter 2.
Sony have yet to give a specific date in quarter 2 for the launch of the Xperia Tablet Z, so we guess it will be available some time from April onwards, they also announced that they have started rolling out the Xperia Z smartphone worldwide.
Red Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Ltd Edition Announced
Samsung are expected t announce their new Galaxy Tab 3 which will include a 7 inch version and a 10.1 inch version at next months Mobile World Congress, and they have now introduced a limited edition red Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) which will come with a free case.
The red limited edition Galaxy Tab 2 will retail for the same price as the existing Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), which is $220, the device comes with the same specifications as the existing model.
